Lucre Comics is Back

Yes it is: http://lucrecomics.com/

In other news. I'll now be hosting a blog on my own site under the news tab, so I'm not sure how lively this blogspot account will be once I start that up.

Point is, Lucre Comics is now the place to follow me on-line. Got an RSS feed set up so that should be simple enough.

Renovations: Lucre Comics is getting a facelift.

Hey Folks, www.LucreComics.com is going offline for a few days while I have the site rebuilt from the ground up to be more user-friendly, navigable, and useful.

I don't know how long it'll be offline, but I'll let you know when it's up and running again.

Issue 2 updated: Page 1 is up

First page of Issue 2 is now up on www.LucreComics.com

Yeah I know this is way behind schedule, but I've been plowing ahead with the artwork and other things in my life, so I just didn't really want to take the time to drop in the word bubbles. But seeing as I was tired after work today and didn't feel very creative, I decided it was time to do some busy work.

It ended up taking several hours to get the word bubbles placed; getting everything to look right and blend with the art was not easy. Now I remember why I kept putting this off!

Anyway, page is up. Go here to see it: http://lucrecomics.com/?p=25

See you folks around. hope there's an update sooner rather than later. ;)

I'm BACK in the traditional art world!

Good News everyone! Once again, my artwork, besides being available online, will be available to see, and purchase, in person, in an actual Gallery.

Through a strange bit of serendipity, my business card ended up in the hands of a local gallery owner, and she contacted me with interest in carrying my artwork. Yesterday I stopped by with a few of my pieces to show them off to her... and I ended up not taking those pieces home. They are going up in the gallery as soon as wall space can be made!

That was the least amount of work I've had to do to accomplish something, ever!

Man, if only life was always this easy...

Anyway, on the off chance that you happen to be in the Pensacola area, and that you happen to read this, please do me the favor of stopping by Gallery Zarragossa, located Downtown Pensacola, 251 Zarragossa Street (easy enough to remember ;))

Just posting this text here for someone else to copy, so, nothing of note, just ignore this post.

The Shuttered City

(A 134 Graphic Novel)

By Justin Sadur-Torres

“The Shuttered City” is a story of paranoia, decay, and lurking, bestial horror, in the vein of “Shadow Over Innsmouth” and “The Thing” set against a far future humanity that has splintered into various subspecies and organized itself into a brutal caste system.

Through this bleak backdrop drifts the rabbit Leland, a member of subspecies so low in the caste hierarchy that he is considered little more than a pet, searching for a lost love that may be more imagined than real.

Alone and masterless, he is eagerly set upon by the residents of Sylvanshire, an isolated backwater long alienated from the rest of civilization, who wish to “partake” of him, adding his flesh and genetic uniqueness to their own.

He has only one ally in this dreary town, the squirrel Ishmael. Their combined battle against impossible odds and mind-bending horror forms the emotional core of the story, the tale of two lost souls struggling against the encroaching darkness.

In my work I strive to build an atmosphere of slow, rising fear; a world of half-glimpsed shapes and lurking dread. Against this backdrop are set vistas of shadowy beauty and moments of genuine kindness and courage. For this, I chose ink wash, a medium that perfectly captures the damp, chiaroscuro atmosphere of Sylvanshire and its environs.

Issue 2 updates!

Hay folks, I'm actually updating issue 2! Shocking isn't it?

Anyway, I've just uploaded the cover for issue 2, even though I'm not really happy with it, it'll serve it's purpose. Meanwhile I've got a lot of artwork for the interior pages done, I just have to drop in the word bubbles.

Page 7 linework complete!

Here's the Linework for page 7, one of the simplest pages I've done in a while:

http://benjamin-the-fox.deviantart.com/art/Issue-2-Page-7-Inks-158426657

Just a quiet character moment between the two protagonists. Nothing very exciting, but I'm pretty happy with their expressions and poses and all, so, enjoy.

Gonna either draw page 8 next or inkwash page 6, depending on my mood.

Page 6 Line Work is Done.

Head on over to my DeviantArt account to see page 6's Line Work. I'm pretty happy with this page, well, rather the one panel I put a lot of work into...the other panels are just adequate.

Anyway, here's the link (enjoy): http://benjamin-the-fox.deviantart.com/art/Issue-2-Page-6-inks-158161756

Very Busy Lately; Small Update

I've been swamped lately, between MegaCon and work and other stuff, so I'd like to show you all a little sample from page six that I'm pretty pleased with.

Linked is a panorama of the Sylvanshire cemetery. It took a lot of work and stolen moments between other obligations to get it done, so I hope you enjoy it:

I'm off to the exotic land of... Orlando Florida.

Hey, anyone who might actually be reading this blog (I know there must be at least 2 of you) I'm off to Orlando Florida this Thursday. No I won't be going to any theme parks but I will be attending MegaCon and sharing a table with an old college buddy of mine. Professionally printed versions of "The Shuttered City" Issue One, will be available for sale, and I'll be there to sign them.

Hope to see you there!

Edit: I'm going to be at Table Green 12.
